Have you considered working for a non-profit this summer? Here are some resources to help you find the right fit for you!

While most of us would love to be on a beach in some far off location June through August, summer can also be a great way to give back through volunteering or community based employment.

If you have ever considered working with a non-profit, AmeriCorps offers the VISTA Summer Associate Program, which helps community organizations throughout the country.

If you are staying in Athens, Financial Aid offers the Summer Service Corps, which offers work study eligible students employment with area organizations. (Watch for more information about this from Campus Involvement.) Both VISTA and Summer Service Corps allow you to give back while gaining experience and earning money over the summer.

For additional opportunities, check out Idealist. This site gives you access to jobs, internship and volunteer opportunities with non-profit organizations throughout the country. You can find positions in anything from organic farming to educational outreach, all depending on your qualifications and interests.
