Gazette Writes About Alum and Her Best-Selling Novels

The Chillicothe Gazette writes about Ohio University alum Karen Harper ’67 returning to Chillicothe, the setting for her best-selling novels, for a reading.

Harper earned a B.A. in English from the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio University.

CHILLICOTHE – A New York Times bestselling author from Columbus whose fondness for Ross County and its rich history and landscape will be in Chillicothe today to meet with readers and talk about her latest effort.

Karen Harper, an author of historical and contemporary novels, will discuss her most recent book “Forbidden Ground.” The novel is the second installment of her “Cold Creek Trilogy” of romantic suspense novels based in the fictional small Ohio town of Cold Creek and nearby Chillicothe (which is portrayed as a big city).

Her author’s night presentation will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Northside Branch Library at 550 Buckeye St. The event is open to the public and admission is free.

Harper’s real-life fascination with the look of Chillicothe and the surrounding area came during visits with her friend, Dr. Roy Manning, and his wife at their Chillicothe home. Her college years at Ohio University in Athens also helped provide an ideal setting for her trilogy, which tells the story of three very different sisters who have moved away from Cold Creek but are drawn back and each gets involved in a particularly serious situation.
