New Spring 2015 Course Examines Production, Consumption & Meaning of Food

The Food Studies curricular theme offers a new course with an interdisciplinary approach to the production, consumption and meaning of food offered in Spring 2015.

CAS 1410 Food Matters: Explorations in Food Across the Liberal Arts (3 credits) is the foundational course of the Food Studies curricular theme. This course is open to all Ohio University students.

Food studies logoTaught by a team of professors from the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, Food Matters encourages students to critically examine an aspect of their lives that is both deeply personal, public, and political.

Courses General Education and Arts & Sciences Requirements

More than 25 Spring 2015 courses are tied to the Food Studies theme, in areas ranging from English to Journalism to Nutrition to Plant Biology. The website details which courses fill general education Tier I, Tier II, Tier III and College of Arts & Sciences distribution requirements in the Humanities, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences.
