MPA Alum Selected for Who’s Who Executive Registry

Ohio University alum Dr. James K. Agbodzakey ’04M, Assistant Professor at Nova Southeastern University, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who’s Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes James K. Agbodzakey’s commitment to excellence in Higher Education, according to a news release.

Agbodzake earned two master’s degrees from Ohio University, a Master of Public Administration from the College of Arts & Sciences and an M.A. in International Affairs from the Center for International Studies.

He has been in higher education for more than 17 years, including working as a graduate research assistant, co-instructor, and now assistant professor. He has also worked in consulting, worked for non-profit organizations, local governments in Africa, the United States, and the Caribbean, and has worked on projects for the United Nations and the International Monetary Fund on an interim basis.

Now instructing courses in public policy, policy and project evaluation, public finance, and analytical techniques, Dr. Agbodzakey is a generalist that can instruct courses on the various subfields within the public administration discipline. He is also the Course Assessment Leader, or CAL, for public policy and finance where he is responsible for establishing and assessing course objectives/competencies and measures, assessment of learning outcomes, and assurance of learning issues.

“My abiding faith in the only wise God propels me on a daily basis,” Dr. Agbodzakey said, who has an aspiration of making a difference at local, national, and international levels for the common good. “I strongly believe that each individual occupies a unique space in time and is expected to be an agent of change regardless of locale or status.”

Noting his sound theoretical understanding, Dr. Agbodzakey hopes to continue to excel in what he does, making a difference in his community to create and instill more value in society. A current member of American Society for Public Administration, Florida Political Science Association, Pi Alpha Alpha, and International AIDS Society, he was named Employee of the Month by Ohio University in 2003, earned the Nationwide President’s Award from Florida Atlantic University’s National Association of Graduate Professional Students in 2008, was named a delegate for the International AIDS Conference in 2012, and earned an Outstanding Service and Dedication Award from the College of The Bahamas Union of Students for the overall improvement and betterment of the students and the College of The Bahamas in 2013. He also authored two books: Every Soul Counts: A Manual for Christian Growth in 2005; and Collaborative Governance and the Implementation of the Ryan White CARE Act: A Case Study of HIV Health Services Planning Councils in Two South Florida Counties in 2010. He’s also authored numerous peer reviewed journal articles in his field in 2012.
