Geography Alum Retires from Wadsworth City Service

“After 10 years as the city’s service director, Chris Easton (’82) has announced he will retire this summer,” reports the Akron Beacon Journal on Feb. 23.

Easton is an alum of the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio University who majored in Geography. He became Wadsworth service director in 2004.

Prior to becoming service director, Easton was assistant service director for five years and planning and economic development director for 15 years before that.

Easton holds a degree in environmental science from Ohio University and a master’s in urban studies from the University of Akron.

“I will be looking for another opportunity,” Easton noted. He said working for the city has been a “fantastic opportunity and a privilege.”

The service director oversees nearly 180 employees in the electric, sewer, sanitation, water, streets, engineering, planning, telecommunications, Wads­worth Community Television and Soprema Senior Center departments.
