This workshop is designed for psychiatrists, other physicians who treat individuals with mental health disorders, psychologists, school psychologists, advanced practice nurses, social workers, clinical counselors, marriage and family therapists, case managers, and others who need to know about the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders – Fifth Edition. The DSM is used nationally and internationally to provide standardized criteria for clinical and research use. Release of DSM-5 marks the first major revision to the classification of and diagnostic criteria for mental disorders since DSM-IV was released in 1994.

Speaker: Jaina Amin, MD, BSN, is a Senior Instructor at University Hospitals of Cleveland at Case Western Reserve. In addition to duties through the adult psychiatry program, Dr. Amin also works at the Cleveland Center for Eating Disorders treating individuals in the partial hospitalization program, intensive outpatient program, and as outpatients. Dr. Amin also currently serves as President of the Cleveland Psychiatric Society. She is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, and completed her Adult Psychiatry training at University Hospitals of Cleveland, and completed a fellowship in Community Psychiatry there as well.

Dr. Amin was trained and mentored by one of only two psychiatrists in Ohio who participated in an APA “by invitation only” training conducted by the editors of the DSM-5.

The workshop is jointly sponsored by the American Psychiatric Association and the Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Association in conjunction with Athens-Hocking-Vinton 317 Board, Athens-Meigs ESC, the Ohio University Psychology and Social Work Clinic, and the School Psychologist Association of Southeast Ohio.
