Eportfolios for Learning: Faculty Discussion and Workshops, Sept. 19 and 20

Faculty and instructors are invited to a discussion and workshop series on electronic portfolios, Sept. 19-20

“Eportfolios offer a number of potential benefits for teaching, learning, and professional development. They can be used, for example, to promote students’ reflections on their learning, to document students’ accomplishment of learning outcomes in a course or program of study, and to showcase students’ accomplishments to share with prospective employers and others. Electronic portfolios also can be used to support professional development needs of students and faculty,” says Dr. Laurie Hatch, Associate Dean for Students, Instruction and Curriculum and Professor of Sociology.

On Sept. 19 and 20, the College of Arts & Sciences is hosting a visit from Professor Wayne Hall, who has worked extensively with student and faculty eportfolios at the University of Cincinnati, and who will be offering sessions on this topic for Ohio University faculty and instructors. Hall’s website includes some sample student and faculty eportfolios.

The sessions are described below. To RSVP, visit http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RSNQ95N. The link will be active until the available seats are filled (approximately 20 per session). Portions of the sessions will be available via video following the event. For more information, contact Laurie Hatch at hatchl@ohio.edu or 740-593-2848.
