Abstract: For several decades, there was much discussion about the potential of high-energy neutrino astronomy, but no detected events. Now, the IceCube experiment has detected several tens of astrophysical neutrinos, but we don’t know their origins. I will discuss how we got to this point, what we can learn from existing data, and what we will likely learn in the near future about astrophysical sources and the properties of neutrinos.
