College of Arts & Sciences students are invited to a Political Science Alum Lecture with Visiting Professor Justin R. McCaulley ’01 Political Science on Thursday, Feb. 2, from 2 to 2:50 p.m. in Baker Center 366, Amanda J. Cunningham Leadership Center.

McCaulley will discuss “Networking in a Drift of Snowflakes.”

McCaulley studied at Ohio University from 1997 to 2001 and graduated with a B.A. in Political Science. The biggest mistake he made during his time at Ohio University was graduating in four years. (He should have stretched it out for the fifth-year “victory lap” like his friends did, he says.)

Since he graduated, McCaulley has remained committed to Ohio University, serving as president of the Cleveland alumni chapter and founding vice president of the alumni society for public affairs. He also served as the youngest member of the Executive Advisory Board to the College of Arts & Sciences and was awarded the college’s distinguished young alumnus award in 2014.

In his professional life, McCaulley was cofounder of a lobbying firm before striking out on his own to form McCaulley & Company, a consulting and professional services firm focused on communications (government relations and public relations), resource development (revenue and capital), and organizational strategy (risk and opportunity management). He also serves on the Professional Standards and Ethics committee and on the Task Force for Lobbying Reform of the Association of Government Relations Professionals in Washington, D.C.

College of Arts & Sciences students can change their lives by building a Bobcat network at the reception, which is Thursday, Feb. 2, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. (come for whatever fits your schedule) in Baker Center Ballroom B.

Students who RSVP will receive free business cards when they attend the event. Networking guru Alan J. McMillan of LearnEarnRetire—who specializes in networking for 20 somethings—will provide “networking 101” prompts for students.
