Wealth and Poverty | Global Challenges Week, Sept. 26-30

The Wealth & Poverty theme announces a Wealth & Poverty week on Global Challenges from Sept. 26-30.

Most of the events can be viewed live or following the event on A&S TV.

The Global Challenges week brings together Ohio University students, faculty, staff, and community members who share an academic interest in the major global challenges of today and tomorrow.  This week-long event focuses on global hunger, climate change, health crises, and human disasters which can only be addressed through the pooling and sharing of knowledge across disciplines.

• Monday, Sept. 26 – Steve Scanlan (Sociology) on “The Global Hunger Crisis:  Food Poverty and Its Complexities in a World of Plenty,” 4-5 p.m. at Alden 319. Abstract. Watch on A&S TV.
• Tuesday, Sept. 27 – Ryan Fogt (Geography) on “The Causes of Global Climate Change over the Last Century and Our Hope for the Future,” 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Alden 319. Abstract. Watch on A&S TV.
• Wednesday, Sept. 28 – Gillian Ice (Social Medicine) on “Current Issues in Global Health,” 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Alden 319. Abstract.
• Thursday, Sept. 29 – Felipe Aros-Vera (Industrial and Systems Engineering), on “International Disaster Relief Logistics: Lessons from Fieldwork Research and the Role of Social Networks,” 9-10 a.m. at Alden 319. Abstract. Watch on A&S TV.
