Chemistry Faculty Host Midwestern Universities Analytical Chemistry Conference

Professor Howard Dewald highlights the history of Analytical Chemistry at Ohio University and the notable scientific contributions to the field resulting from research in the department.

 

Chemistry & Biochemistry professors Hao Chen, Howard Dewald and Peter Harrington hosted the recent Midwestern Universities Analytical Chemistry Conference held at the Ohio University Inn on Oct 19-21.

MUACC started in 1947 and is a well-known conference for analytical chemists across over 10 states in the Midwest area.

“The frequent hosts for this meeting are the Big Ten universities such as University of Wisconsin Madison and University of Illinois Urbana Champaign,” says Chen, lead organizer, highlighting the significance of hosting this meeting at Ohio University.

This year’s meeting was the 70th anniversary for MUACC and attracted 50 scholars from across the Midwest. Support for the meeting was provided by Chemistry & Biochemistry Department and sponsors GSF Chemicals, Eli Lilly, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Sciex.
