Samantha “Sam” Hartsough ’16 ’17M is a recruiter at Robert Half Technology in downtown Cleveland, where she builds relationships and connects future employees with their future employers. She says that studying gender and work during her time in grad school makes her a more conscientious and informed recruiter. Hartsough started in this position soon after she graduated with her MA in Sociology, after earning her B.A. degrees in Psychology and Sociology-Criminology from the College of Arts and Sciences at Ohio University.

She met a representative from Robert Half at a Career and Internship Fair at Ohio University while she was a graduate student and maintained communication. That initial meeting led to her connection to the the Cleveland office. She started two days after she took her graduate exams!

The Best Part

Hartsough says the best part of her position is calling a candidate to tell him/her that they got the job.

“I love being able to change someone’s future with one of the most important things in life, a job,” she says.

She works on a great team with people she actually enjoys seeing for nine hours a day. And the amazing view of Lake Erie from her office doesn’t hurt.
