Dr. Ronan Carroll, Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences, recently was selected to present his research at the Gordon Research Conference on Staphylococcal Diseases in Waterville Valley, NH.

Carroll studies the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. The research he presented was carried out by a graduate student in his lab, Rebecca Keogh, and investigates how the methicillin resistant S. aureus strain MRSA produces and secretes toxins.

The research has identified a new pathway through which several S. aureus toxins are secreted and may represent a novel target for new drugs designed to limit the severity of infection. For more information on this exciting research visit the Carroll lab webpage.
