Career Corner | Student Panel on Shepherd Summer Internships, Oct. 5

The Wealth & Poverty theme is hosting a student panel and information session on Shepherd Summer Internships on Thursday, Oct. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Library Friends Room (Alden 319).

Last summer three Wealth & Poverty Certificate students received Shepherd internships, and they will talk about their experiences and what they learned.

The students participating in the panel are Angela Green (Social Work), Kees Vande Stadt (Geography), and Chloe Wooster (Social Work).

Hear from OHIO students who spent the summer of 2017:

  • Working with the homeless population in Atlanta, GA
  • Working on access to affordable housing in Camden, NJ
  • Doing medical social work in a hospital in Charleston, WV

Details about the 2018 internship program:

  • Internships are competitively selected and paid.
  • Students work in agencies serving distressed communities throughout the United States.
  • Internships connect academic and professional interests with addressing poverty in many forms.
  • Students live other interns having a shared commitment to confronting poverty.
