CLJC Hosts Reception with Former Ohio Supreme Court Justice Yvette McGee Brown

The Center for Law, Justice & Culture will host a reception and discussion with former Ohio Supreme Court Justice Yvette McGee Brown on Thursday, April 20, at 2:15 pm in the Center for Law, Justice & Culture, Bentley 001.

McGee Brown graduated from Ohio University in 1982 with a degree in journalism-public relations. She continued her education at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, earning her Juris Doctor in 1985. She has honorary doctorate degrees from Ohio Dominican University, Wilberforce University, and Central State University.

Former Justice McGee Brown also served as the 153rd Justice and the first African American woman on the Supreme Court of Ohio and as a Judge on the Franklin County Common Pleas Court for nearly a decade. She brings a unique combination of judicial, legal, and corporate experience to her practice.

She is currently a partner at Jones Day, where she focuses on litigation and appeals. She has represented clients on constitutional issues, corporate investigations, employment litigation, and government regulatory matters, and she frequently advises clients on appellate matters in state and federal court. Her clients include Fortune 100 companies and local government.

She will be in the center as an informal meet and greet to discuss her legal career and impart some wisdom on students interested in law.

The event is open to all students, and pizza and refreshments are provided.
