Sociology, Political Science Alum Provides Career Services

Alex Toomey

Ohio University alum Alex Toomey ’07 helps connect public affairs undergraduate and graduate students with opportunities and employers in his role as Assistant Director of Career Services at the John Glenn College of Public Affairs at Ohio State University.

At the end of October, he transitions into his new role as Director of Career Management and Corporate Relations with the Fisher College of Business.

After graduating from Ohio University with a B.S.S. in Political Science and Sociology in 2007, he went on to earn a master’s in Higher Education Administration from The University of Akron.

Toomey provides comprehensive career services and advises students on their short- and long-term professional goals.

“What I enjoy most is the daily opportunity to create deep and lasting relationships with students as they discover their professional purpose in life,” Toomey says.

“My experience as a pre-college student adviser and as president of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity during my time at OHIO taught me the importance of practical leadership experience as a catalyst for career success. This philosophy is felt everyday by the students and employers that I serve.”

Toomey also collaborates with other college offices to provide workshops and panels in a variety of subject areas and works to place graduate students in Central Ohio government agencies and nonprofit organizations.
