Chemistry Gets 1804 Grant for Flame Photometers

The Chemistry & Biochemistry Department at Ohio University received an 1804 grant of $17,500 for “Flame Photometers in the Undergraduate Chemistry Teaching Laboratories.”

The 14 flame emission photometers will enhance the laboratory curriculum and build a stronger foundation for beginner and upper-level chemistry students.

The Grants and Funding Committee of the Ohio University Foundation awarded a total of $402,384.53 from the 1804 Fund to invest in six new graduate/faculty proposals and nine undergraduate initiatives.

The 1804 Fund was established by the Ohio University Foundation to support the university’s core purpose of maintaining, strengthening and enhancing a learning-centered community. The 1804 Fund finances curricular innovations, programs and activities that improve the undergraduate educational experience and innovations in graduate education.
