Career Corner | Dinner with 12 Strangers Features Attorney Clarke Vandervort

You’re invited to Dinner with 12 Strangers!

The idea is simple: Attend a dinner with an alumni host and fellow students to share a good meal, good conversation, and a good time. Come to Dinner with 12 Strangers and leave with 11 new friends!

This dinner’s host is Clarke Vandervort, a 1975 Ohio University graduate who earned a B.A., summa cum laude, in classical languages and literatures. Prior to attending Ohio University, Vandervort served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was a Vietnam War combat veteran; he received an honorable discharge. After leaving Athens, he attended the University of Chicago to study classical languages and received a J.D. from the West Virginia University College of Law. He worked as a civil and criminal litigation attorney in both West Virginia and Ohio federal and state courts. From 2001-15, he served as a United States magistrate judge for the Southern District of West Virginia. Vandervort also has worked as a laborer and trades person throughout his life and is highly skilled in every aspect of residential construction, especially carpentry and masonry.

This Dinner with 12 Strangers is Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Restaurant Salaam, 21 W. Washington St. in Athens. Register online.
