The African American Studies Department welcomed back alumni at an open house during the Black Alumni Reunion.

Just as alumni had plenty of stories to share, African American Studies faculty and staff had great news to talk about, too. In order to participate in this year’s festivities, and keep alumni in the loop, the department hosted an open house and book raffle.

Open House: Although the department has moved from its original home in Lindley Hall, faculty and staff are still engaging the minds of students and remaining active on campus from their new location in the old Woolworth’s building (31 S. Court St.). During the reception, faculty and led tours and shared stories.

Book Raffle: Through a partnership with Ohio University Press, the department also hosted a book raffle. Ohio University Press has amassed a collection of books by African American authors for the raffle with a wide range of topics including:

  • Personal Growth
  • Culture
  • History
  • Mystery
