The offices of Instructional Innovation and Global Affairs invite faculty to apply for a fall workshop series, Teaching with a Global Perspective: Supporting Domestic and International Students.

This interdisciplinary, interactive series is designed to support faculty who are interested in creating assignments that are beneficial for all student populations, increasing student participation, and assessing international students’ work.

There will be a total of four to five sessions throughout the fall semester for a total of 8–10 hours. Individual consultations also will be available outside the group meetings. Participants will:

  • Identify the “hidden curriculum” in their courses, programs/departments.
  • Identify and incorporate course materials and assignments that offer students a global perspective.
  • Create assignments and classroom practices that offer a level playing field to diverse students.
  • Identify and incorporate strategies that help diverse students work together effectively.
  • Provide facilitative response to international students’ academic work.

All Ohio University full-time faculty are welcome to apply (including STEM faculty and regional campus faculty). Participants will meet four to five times during the semester and will receive $1,000 stipends upon completion as well as a certificate in Globalizing the Student Experience.

Those interested should email a one-page proposal to Dr. Dawn Bikowski and Dr. Talinn Phillips. Priority will be given to applications received by Aug. 26.
