“Our entire department recognizes Morgan’s truly remarkable and prolific record of scholarly activities, the contributions she makes to her discipline and to collaborative research on regional, national and international stages, and the great admiration bestowed on her by her peers as one of a mere handful of world experts in freshwater red algae,” says Dr. Harvey Ballard, Associate Professor, who serves as chair of the Environmental & Plant Biology Evaluation/Tenure and Promotion Committee, remarked in Vis’ nomination letter.

“Even amid a substantial number of faculty who strive for both teaching excellence and national and international scholarship, Morgan stands out as one of the most impressive faculty our department has ever had,” he added.
