Ohio University alum Donnell Haynes ’78 passed away on April 26, reports the Richland Source.
Donnell H. “Hap” Haynes Sr., 74, passed this life on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in Ohio Health MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Haynes was born on Saturday, April 4, 1942 to Leonard and Zola (Holmes) Haynes Sr., in Toledo, and lived in Mansfield for more than 55 years. Donnell received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from Ohio University in Athens.
Hap was a licensed barber, certified steam boiler operator, and a former supervisor at the Flxible Bus Company in Loudonville. In the community, Hap was known as an entrepreneur. He was the past owner of Big John’s Car Wash also known as Downtown Car Wash and Hap’s Painting and Supplies for many years. He also was the past owner of Memories, Happy Jack’s, and Taste of Class Bars.
Hap was a member of the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and was also a former member of the now disbanded Richland County Chamber of Commerce Minority Advocacy Committee.
