The Charles J. Ping Institute for the Teaching of the Humanities presents From Page to Stage: The Process of Writing Plays.

This one-day workshop for secondary teachers is Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Ohio University in Athens, OH. The workshop takes place from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. with an 8 p.m. play performance.  The 8 p.m. performance is optional to attend, and the seating is very limited.

About the workshop: Want to learn more about the process of writing plays? This workshop provides an opportunity to participate in Ohio University’s Seabury Quinn Jr. Playwrights Festival, with readings and stagings of new, original plays and feedback from professional theater mentors.

In the morning, participants will hear from professional playwriting mentors about the process of playwriting and play development. In the afternoon, participants will attend readings of new plays by Ohio University graduate students, and hear feedback from the mentors about how the play might be developed.

The goal is for participants to better understand the playwriting process and how new plays are developed in the professional theater.

This workshop will be of interest to anyone interested in theater, literature and creative writing.
