Transfer Tip | Get Pre-Approval for Courses Taken at Other Universities

For  courses taken at another college or university to be transferred to Ohio University, it is ideal that we pre-approve them prior to completion. If you are planning on taking a course at another college or university, please fill out a Petition for Transient Student Course Approval.

Once the form is completed, submit it with a copy of the course description for each class planned. The paperwork can be dropped off in Wilson Hall on College Green, or it can be sent in an email attachment to me conradk@ohio.edu. Be sure to only fill out one petition per semester planned away.

When courses are approved or denied, the signed form will be sent via email to the student. A copy also will be scanned into the student’s record for future reference. The original will be placed at the front desk in Wilson Hall should the student want it for his or her own records.

The transient course itself is completed at the other college or university, a transcript must be sent to the Undergraduate Admissions Department in Chubb Hall. After it is uploaded into the student files, the College of Arts &d Sciences will review and post the credits to the DARS. This can take a few weeks after receipt of transcripts.
