Study Abroad Scholarship Information Sessions, Feb. 8, 10

Gilman International Scholarship information sessions are Monday, Feb. 8, at noon in Baker 226 and Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 4 p.m. in Baker 226.

The Gilman Scholarship Program offers scholarships to U.S. citizen undergraduates who want to study abroad and are receiving a federal Pell grant. The program aims to encourage students to choose nontraditional study abroad destinations, especially those outside of Western Europe and Australia.

It supports students who have been traditionally underrepresented in study abroad, including but not limited to, students with high financial need, community college students, students studying the sciences and engineering, students with diverse ethnic backgrounds, students with disabilities, and students of nontraditional age. The program seeks to assist students from a diverse range and type of public and private institutions from all 50 states. Award recipients are chosen by a competitive selection process and must use the award to defray eligible study abroad costs. Awards are made up to $5,000 for U.S. citizen undergraduates to study abroad and vary depending on the length of study and student need.

Come to an information session to learn more about these great opportunities and get help with the application process. For more information, contact Laura Schaeffer, Director of Honors Enrichment Programs, at schaeffe@ohio.edu.
