OPIE Welcomes New Students

OPIE welcomes and hosts 28 students from Mexico who come to Ohio University as participants of the Proyecta 100,000 program. It is a student mobility program that aims for academic and cultural exchange between the two countries—Mexico and the United States—to strengthen their economic and academic ties. The Mexican government plans to send 100,00 students from Mexico to study in the U.S. higher educational institutions by 2018.

Dr. Gerry Krzic, the Director of the Ohio Program of Intensive English, traveled to Mexico earlier in Fall 2014 to facilitate OPIE’s involvement in this initiative.

The students from Mexico now live in OHIO dorms, take OPIE classes, and are busy getting to know Athens and the university.
