Workshop on Writing a Competitive NSF Graduate Research Application, Aug. 27, 28

A workshop for graduate students on “How to Write a Competitive NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program Application” is Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 6 p.m., in Academic and Research Center 106.

A repeat session is Thursday, Aug. 28, at 6 p.m. in Clippinger 332. Pizza and beverages are served.

The workshop is hosted by the Ohio University Office of the Vice President for Research and Creative Activity. RSVP requested prior to the workshops to male-bru@ohio.edu.

The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees in fields within the NSF’s mission. The program provides three years of support for the graduate education of individuals who have demonstrated their potential for significant achievements in science and engineering research.

The workshop is for graduating seniors and first- and second-year graduate students entering or in graduate school in the following areas: Chemistry; Computer and Information Science; Engineering; GeoSciences; Life Sciences; Materials Research; Mathematical Sciences; Physics and Astronomy; Psychology (not clinical); Social Sciences; STEM Education and Learning Research.

Note that Social Sciences include: Archaeology; Biological Anthropology; Cultural Anthropology; Anthropology; Communications; Decision Making and Risk Analysis; Economics (except Business Administration); Geography; History and Philosophy of Science; International Relations; Law and Social Science; Linguistics; Linguistic Anthropology; Medical Anthropology; Political Science; Public Policy; Science Policy; Sociology (except Social Work); Urban and Regional Planning Social Sciences.

Eligibility

  • U.S. citizen, national or permanent resident.
  • Graduating seniors and 1st and 2nd year graduate students.
  • No more than 12 months of full-time graduate study as of Aug. 1, 2014, unless interruption of two consecutive years prior to Nov. 2014.
  • GRE scores are NOT required.
  • No GPA requirement, but typically above 3.6 (UG).

Benefits

  • $32,000 annual stipend for up to 3 years.
