Online Course Design Brown Bag Discussions on First Fridays this Fall

Online Course Design Brown Bag Discussions will be held the First Friday of each month, September through November, at noon in Wilson Hall 303.

“Are you thinking about offering a new online course or wanting to refresh a current one? Bring your lunch and join your colleagues to discuss new and exciting possibilities for online teaching and learning. Interactive Learning in the Arts and Sciences Classroom: Using SoftChalk Software
Friday, Sept. 5, noon – 1 p.m. in Wilson Hall 303
Learn to engage your students with interactive lectures and materials. In this workshop you will learn to use SoftChalk software to create engaging presentations that allow students to interact with the content on the screen. Interactive lectures encourage critical thinking skills, retention of knowledge, and student engagement.

Gaming in Online Learning
Friday, Oct. 3, noon – 1 p.m.  in Wilson Hall 303
Using games in the classroom is certainly a way to create a fun environment, and research also shows that gaming serves a highly effective tool for student learning. Come to this workshop to learn how you can engage your students in this fun and exciting way.

Mobile Learning and Emerging Technology
Friday, Nov. 7, noon – 1 p.m.  in Wilson Hall 303
Have you ever heard the term augmented reality? Ever wondered how you could encourage students to learn with their smart phones tablets? Want to teach with your iPad? Come to this session to learn about new, emerging technologies, and how teaching and learning can take place using mobile devices.
