Class of 2018: Zane Trace Standout To Study Psychology, Business at Ohio

The Newark Advocate reports that Zane Trace High School senior Autumn Pack—recipient of a highly competitive $50,000 Most Valuable Student national scholarship from the Elks National Foundation—plans to study Psychology and Business at Ohio University in the fall.

The Elks National Foundation last month invited Pack to Chicago, where she competed for the scholarship money by taking part an interview with a panel of judges and a video interview.

Pack ultimately emerged as one of two recipients of the $50,000 top award, which she will use beginning this fall at Ohio University, where she plans to study psychology and business.

Receiving the top award was an exciting moment for Pack, who learned of the news by phone shortly after her visit to the Windy City.

“I was like, ‘Are you sure you have the right number?’ ” Pack said with a laugh.

Pack was taken from her parents at a young age and placed into foster care. She now lives with her grandmother Phyllis, a person who Pack said has had a positive influence on her life.
